Special Benefits for Young Members

Helping the next generation learn to confidently navigate the world of money is one of our most important goals. We offer several special accounts that grow with young members and help them learn key financial skills at every age to save, spend, and plan ahead.

The best time to start is today! And whether you are a family member, guardian, or a young member learning to navigate your personal finances, we’re here to help.

Getting Started with Membership

The first step is to open a member account in the young person’s name. Like any Together Credit Union membership, this starts with just a $5 opening deposit in a membership savings account.

Membership Savings Accounts by Age Group:

  • Junior Account Savings – for members age 0–9
  • Youth Group Savings – for members age 10–13
  • Young Adult Financial Savings – for members age 14–21

For members under age 16, the savings account can be set up as a standard joint account with an adult joint owner, or as a trust account. See our Frequently Asked Questions below for more on the pros and cons of these options.

Earn and Learn Savings
For all young members age 21 and under, a great next step is to add our Earn and Learn Savings account. The Earn and Learn account offers a preferred rate on balances up to $1,000 so you can see your money grow faster as you build the savings habit. Learn more about the Earn and Learn account.
Youth Certificates of Deposit (CDs)
For longer-term savings, members age 21 and under also benefit from special rates and lower minimums on Certificates of Deposit (CDs). Learn more about Youth CDs.
Safe Spending Tools

Money management and payment card use are key skills in an increasingly cashless world. These tools can help young members practice smart spending habits while providing peace of mind for families.

  • MyFit Access Debit Card – The MyFit Access Debit Card is a perfect first spending card. Like a pre-paid card, it cannot be overdrawn, but with no fees and no minimum balance.
